There is a sweet gem of a wedding venue in Fairgrove, Michigan. My Sister's Barn, owned by Tom and Anne Leen, is a restored barn that hosts wedding ceremonies and receptions and provides full service including wonderful food cooked over wood fired grills. Rebecca and Ryan were married outside in the wheat field with barn swallows darting about overhead. Some of the oldest civilizations recognize the swallow as a positive symbol of luck, prosperity, and fidelity.
Liz from Page Weddings and Events coordinated the day which ran smoothly from start to finish. The couple asked their good friend Kim Payne to officiate and he did a wonderful job. One of his quotes really stood out for us; "You don't get married because you want a commitment but because you have a commitment." The couple chose the song "The Kiss from The Last of the Mohicans" as their processional and "A Better Place" by Rachel Platten for their recessional.
The cocktail hour and reception was held in the restored barn. The enticing smell of barbeque smoke filled the air. We had the pleasure of enjoying truly outstanding brisket and ribs along with the guests. Dessert was a varied selection delicious cupcakes by The Gourmet Cupcake Shoppe of Midland. Niki Schaller Photography captured beautiful images of the couple throughout the day. She really had an eye for detail and created meaningful memories.
We were delighted to find this Michigan treasure and honored to be a part of Rebecca and Ryan's wedding day. Best wishes!
