Katelyn and Karey were married among family and friends at the Troy Historical Museum in Troy, Michigan on a gorgeous autumn day. Their Aunt Diane and those closest to them played a vital role in making the day memorable. They erected the chuppah, arranged the hors d'oeuvres, dinner, cider donuts and wedding cake that was creatively decorated by a friend. Rabbi Tamara Kolton officiated the ceremony which included a ring warming, Kiddish and the Sheva Brachot spoken by some of the couples family and friends.
Katelyn and Karey chose several romantic standards for the ceremony including Chapel of Love, Be My Baby and Can't Take My Eyes of You. After they shared their vows, Karey concluded the ceremony with the "breaking of the glass" which signifies that while love is fragile, Katelyn and Karey share a love that is strong enough to overcome any adversity that lies ahead.
Katelyn's mother shared with me that Katelyn found her wedding skirt at the Brides Project in Ann Arbor. Wedding dresses are donated from all across the country. Some are "pre-loved" while many are donated directly fro bridal salons. The best part is that all of the money raised from the sale of gowns supports families touched by cancer by providing services at the Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor. Together, Katelyn and her grandmother made the top part of her dress. Such a great story for a family heirloom!
We enjoyed playing our current hits and classic rock selections for the group as they enjoyed dinner and conversation. This couple is surrounded by a wonderfully supportive family and group of friends. We wish Katelyn and Karey the very best as they begin married life together.
